A visit home & some remodeling!

A couple days after we got back from Seattle we headed back to the airport to visit Jake's family in Atlanta. We got to celebrate Jake's great grandma's 90th birthday party which was pretty special. I was feeling a little too shy to take out the camera so you will have to use your imagination.

I think I've mentioned before that Jake and I will be moving to Atlanta after the baby is born. We recently picked out a house to live in when we move! That is a whole other post for another day, BUT we spent a good chunk of the weekend going to home depot, tile stores, picking out paint and counter tops.
No we didn't buy cracked tile, that was just a little sample piece we had layed out
The kitchen wasn't really what we were looking for, so we are gutting the whole thing and starting from scratch. Goodbye old kitchen, We'll post pictures in a few months when we move in!

We are so excited that we are getting out of our little cave and into a house with lot's of light and windows!

The rest of the weekend we spent eating good food and spending time with family. Of course a visit to Atlanta wouldn't be complete without a trip (or two or three) to Rita's for some gelati.. Oh so good!

Going home

For memorial weekend we headed to Seattle to visit my family.  It's always nice to go home to a stocked fridge and a mom who feeds us. Oh how I love summer time when we can BBQ and eat corn on the cob.

We went to a indoor speed cart racing place. I sat that one out, but Jake and the rest of the fam had fun.

Jake and I also decided to go golfing one day. I am a seriously terrible beginner, but it was still fun really fun. Thank goodness for a patient teacher and a golf cart.

We also took advantage of the sunny Seattle weather and played volleyball in the park with the family. It was a good game of gimp volleyball since pretty much everyone had some kind of ailment. Good thing our net was actually for badminton and not volleyball..

Of course we played lots of games..
And it wouldn't be a trip home without lots of cuddle time with my favorite little dog.
We also had a lovely little date with one of my best friends Nicia..taking pictures in seattle and having a delish Italian romantic dinner for three. That is until our restaurant turned  into a burlesque bar. While we couldn't see the "show" the cheering crowd and MC definitely made for an interesting night!

Mother's day

I felt a little silly celebrating mother's day this year, since I don't do any mothering  yet. Nevertheless, Jake spoiled me and made it a perfect day. He brought me blueberry pancakes in bed. It's always been a tradition in my family to do breakfast in bed on special holidays and Jake's been a good sport about continuing that for me.  He made the yummiest blueberry pancakes, I couldn't stop thinking about them the rest of the day {.. I think about food wayy too much these days.!}

When he asked me what I wanted for mother's day I said a nice card, but I would also love a cupcake. He delivered, of course.

He also tracked down something I showed him on pinterest for like 10 seconds and bought it for me. Apparently he went searching in my browser history for it. I was pretty darn surprised. He's the best!
We spent the day at church, skyping with Jake's brother Jarett who's serving a mission in Mexico, and cuddling on the couch watching the Survivor season finale. It was a good day.

Since we are on the topic of motherhood... According to my cell phone app, I am now in the third trimester and the baby is the size of a head of cauliflower.. eek! While I am SO excited and grateful to be having this little baby join our life soon, I get a little stressed when I look in the mirror and see a fat lady looking back. {Maybe this has something to do with me thinking about food all day? ..lol}. So it's possible that I've been avoiding the camera lately.. if you're wondering ;)

Life Lately..

Life hasn't slowed down a whole lot since graduation. Last weekend we went to Atlanta  to spend time with Jake's family. His parents are awesome, and our church was filming one of those "I'm a Mormon" videos about their lives. So we went down there for the weekend to support them and be the background people. We had a great time at the lake house, relaxing, eating ritas, and going to the Braves game.
This is the only picture I snapped of the filming
We had such good seats and they won!
subconsciously hiding the belly?
Jake still has a couple classes to finish up this summer and his crazy teachers are keeping him super busy. I am taking a "clothing construction" class just for fun and spending at least 5 hours a day in the lab learning how to sew clothes. Luckily, I'm not taking it for a grade so I'm feeling pretty stress free these days. Since we will be around all summer we decided to get a garden plot at our apartment complex. We don't really know what we are doing, but we're hoping something turns out!

Reason #45030 why Jake is awesome. He drives all the way to Salt Lake just to look at strollers with me for hours and doesn't even complain. I actually had a lot of fun. It really hasn't hit me yet that there will be a baby in our stroller in a few months, but we still have time for that to sink in.. After our stroller shopping we got the most delicious cupcakes and then headed downtown to try out the Red Iguana, a Mexican restaurant we've been wanting to try for a long time. On the way there we saw a sign at another place and realized it was Cinco de Mayo... perfect. lol. They put us in this tiny hot pink room that only had enough room for our table but the food was so worth it!

And we're D.O.N.E.

On Friday Jake and I finallyy graduated from BYU! Technically Jake is still in school until August, but he was kind enough to walk with me so we could be with each other. Both of our families came to town to celebrate with us. We started out the morning right with Kneader's french toast then headed to the convocation ceremony. Jake's sister, Jordan, was graduating too so it was fun to have her walk with us.

We took some pictures outside and then had a lovely lunch at one of our favorite places, La Jolla Groves. Later that night we went to P.F. Changs and played werewolf at our place with our families.

On Saturday night we had a beautiful dinner at the St. Regis in Park City. One of Jeff's (father-in-law) business partners hooked us up with the chef's private table. To say we ate alot would be an understatement. My favorite part was the salted caramel sundae with carmel popcorn and salted peanuts. Oh yum. I think the baby liked it too, so maybe I'll have to go back for more?

It was so much fun to enjoy the sunny weather with our families and celebrate being done with school! It's sort of strange how our parent's support us and help us get through school, then when we are done they celebrate us, when's their celebration?? lol
