We ate, all day.

It's official, I'm 23! Jake and I celebrated by eating ALL day. haha It wasn't really intentional, but what else do you do when there are flash floods that ruin your pool plans?

Jake woke me up with some fabulous Kneaders french toast in bed, lucky for me there are no pictures of my crazy morning hair.

After being lazy for a while we decided to go to PF Changs for lunch. Those lettuce wraps never disappoint!

We also did a little shopping and cuddled up during a storm. I had just finished getting all ready to go out to dinner when a serious flash flood hit. We happen to have our door open and saw that our neighbor (who wasn't home) had water pouring through is AC unit and flooding his house. So I put on a poncho and ran through a crazy storm to get to the maintenance people. Let's just say my hair didn't survive but I got to run through a storm--which is sort of exciting if you are from Seattle and are currently deprived of rain.

The storm died really quick, and we made our way to the SLC Melting Pot. Oh my, heaven I tell you. We filled our tummys way too full with deliciousness. Banana Fosters fondue = happy birthday to mee.

It was a great day. Despite convincing Jake that I am a "Birthday-zilla"{ aka. everything I say goes} I felt lots of love from my family and friends. Maybe next year I will hike a mountain or something instead of eating out all day?...who knows.

Happy Birthday Dad!

Happy happy birthday to you! Thank you for being such a great Dad. You have given me so many opportunities that I will forever be grateful for. You have taught me so many things, especially how to work hard. In my old age I'm finally learning the wisdom in listening to my parents and I'm grateful for the good advice you've always given me. I feel lucky to have you as my dad! So eat cake & enjoy your 40th birthday ; )..Love, Caylie

It's magical.

Jake & I have been non-stop studying/ doing homework since he got home from his 'man-cation'{ aka a vacation in Florida with his friends last weekend}... Anyways we were in serious need of some fun.

We decided to check out the farmer's market to pick up some fresh produce. Turns out the farmers market was lacking in the produce department... but we did manage to find some fresh squeezed limeade with mint and cane sugar. Oh yes please. When we went to pay they told us some guy had already paid for us. Thank you stranger for somehow knowing our love for lemonade AND our lack of money.

We were starving so we also shared a bowl of some delish Korean food. It's not quite the produce we were after, but we were happy anyway.

I've have a bunch of breakfast recipes that I never make so I thought it would be fun to start making breakfast on Saturday morning. However, my body had plans to hit the alarm clock a million times and wake up around lunch time instead. Soo.. I made strawberry and banana crepes for dinner instead. (Better late than never?)

I'm starting to realize that it might seem like our day was completely about food, but it wasn't I think it's because food doesn't complain if I take a picture and it doesn't have to worry about if it washed it's hair or put on makeup, so get ready for more pictures of food. I decided to make a double batch of whole wheat apple sauce muffins {recipe from my sister in law Kimi}. We will be eating them from now until forever.. and that's not a bad thing. Yum.

Since Jake was out of town last weekend I had to wait to see Harry Potter, but it was SO SO worth the wait. I was so giddy and happy the entire time. Jake saw a 3AM showing with his friends in Florida so I'm pretty sure he enjoyed it more the second time around. Before the movie he was trying to tell me a serious story about it and kept saying "Voldemore ..this" and "Voldemore ..that". Clearly I did not marry a Harry Potter fan.. it's Voldemort! haha .. cracked me up.. maybe you just had to be there.

When we left the theatre I was on cloud nine. We were walking to the car when we heard some nearby music. We decided to check it out and found this cute band. Unfortunately, my phone doesn't capture how amazing and beautiful the surroundings were, but there were twinkle lights everywhere. I kept telling Jake how magical it was. Seriously so amazing, but you'll just have to imagine it or go to the Riverwoods in Provo at night while a band is singing "Kiss me" and maybe, maybe you will feel the magic too.

The sun, a big blob, and strawberry marshmallows

Remember when I blogged about my giant carbon foot print this summer with all the traveling we had planned? Well, we managed to fit in a few extra unplanned trips. Just a couple days after starting summer semester of school, we re-packed our suitcases (we never really unpacked from previous trips--its hard shoving those suitcases under our bed I tell ya) and hopped on a red eye to the south. Jake's family was all gathered at the lake house for Jordan's open house. There was lots of swimming, blob-ing (although I was not persuaded to inch out onto that slippery thing), chatting, and marshmallow roasting (did you know they make strawberry flavored marshmallows???... well now you know, your welcome.) I just love spending time in that southern sun with lots of great people definitely beats homework in our little cave.
ps. did you know marshmallow is spelled with an 'a'?? Jesh, you learn something new everyday..

A perfect summer weekend

Jake and I just got back from a lovely weekend in the sun. We went to my parents house in Spokane to spend time with the whole family. We had so much fun playing games, shooting targets {err, some of us shot and some of us shot the gun and screamed and quit}, swimming in the pool, lots of frisbee and baseball in the yard, movies, and spending time with family.

We also had a big birthday party for all the family summer bdays {lily.brandon.dad.caylie.kimi}. Just American desserts cake= divine.
